AI Agents in Industrial Applications:

• Domain-Specific AI Agents (DXA) are highlighted as particularly impactful in the industrial world. They are necessary because generic LLMs, while powerful, lack the specific knowledge and consistency required for critical industrial processes.
• The probabilistic nature of generic LLMs is seen as undesirable in industrial applications where consistent and predictable outcomes are essential.
• Domain expertise is considered “the key to success in the physical world.” The challenge lies in capturing and operationalizing this often undocumented knowledge, especially from retiring experts.
• Existing methods like Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) are useful but often do not capture the full breadth of expert knowledge gained through years of experience and handling unexpected incidents.
